Entry #6 Disposable Cameras
Pictures are a way for people to look back on memories they have made. That could be taking a photo with a friend, when you're traveling, or even your lunch because it looks that good. Capturing a picture in the moment seems bittersweet and I'm starting to not appreciate taking photos when I can. Over time, I've started noticing people taking pictures with a disposable camera instead of their phone. Then it made me wonder how it started to become a trend.

Lucy Cocoran wrote an article called, "How The Disposable Film Camera Became The It-Girl Accessory of 2022". The hype about disposable cameras began last year in 2022. A lot of people began to see others use film cameras on social media; whether that be on TikTok, Instagram, or even celebrities. Since the younger generation is so easily influenced, disposable cameras quickly became the new trend. Cocoran states that "There's something blissful about its simplicity-just snap the photo and move on". Once you finish the film, you can take it to a store to develop the pictures. I believe that's why it's the new thing now. It seems more nostalgic to take a photo with an actual camera rather than your phone. It also gives us the opportunity to enjoy the moment.
If you're interested in purchasing a disposable camera, there are many options out there. "What's the Hype With Disposable Cameras" is an article that was published by Alexandra Karr and Maya Valmon. They discuss how film cameras started to become a trend and also provided a list of cameras to buy if you would like to try out film yourself. One of the cameras they recommended was the Kodak Funsaver; it's a classic and about $20. If you don't want to use a disposable camera, then you can always purchase a polaroid camera. The picture instantly comes out so you don't have to wait for the pictures to be developed.

In brief, disposable cameras are a fun way to capture a moment if you don't want to use your phone. It's very affordable and something everyone should experience at some point. Next time you go on a trip, I definitely recommend purchasing a film camera and trying to finish it all before it's over. It makes it something to look forward to after!
